Out of all the New Year celebrations I have ever spent, January 1, 2012 takes the cake.

There was no big bash, fancy food, or grand venue for us that day — only the company of family, which to me is the most important of all. We always have reunions like this every first of January, but this one was distinctly special because of the third generation gang — my nephews and nieces.

They played the entire day and seemed to have energy left at the end of it all. I knew most of their games (thank goodness!) like Langit Lupa which they fancily called as Angel Devil, Patintero, and other jumping games I honestly forgot what they’re called. Man, these kids love to jump!

Looking at them play made me really nostalgic. I remembered when we — the second generation gang — used to be them. Oh how much we also played then! We played so hard there were usually casualties at the end of the day — your typical cuts and bruises! We enjoyed watching them play and one of my cousins even joined in!

Also cuddled and cooed with this little angel here:

This cute kid’s name is Larkin. Shiela says he’s gonna have to spread his good looks around because…well, just look at that face!

On a different matter, I wanted to dress up a tad more this year so I pulled out my lace skirt and something that gives a bold pop of blue! Here’s what I wore:

I got this top from one of those events where they give you plain shirts. I think this came from one of those rallies our professor in Criminal Procedure asked us to attend. :)

Since it’s New Year, I wore something polka dotted. Unfortunately, aside from the polka dotted shorts I wore on December 31, this necklace was the only other polka dotted piece I have!

One other thing that fascinated me that day was my aunt’s bakery! I used to watch Yakitate (that anime about bread), and I remember ogling and salivating on the beautiful bread cartoons. When I saw freshly baked bread in real life, let’s just say it knocked the socks off of me!

Mmmm cheesebread…

Aah, it was truly a fun day. I enjoyed reminiscing it while writing this post! Too bad the holiday break will soon be over, and I’d be back in school once this post is up! Back to books and codals and legal gobbledygook. It’s all good though. Whatever helps me for the bar exams on September (gah!) is fine with me. :)

Hope all of you had a fun New Year!
